Samsung Galaxy A9 vs Oneplus 6T - Which is better?

Samsung has launched their new premium mid-range smartphone Galaxy A9 in India which is the first ever smartphone to sport a Quad camera setup on the back. The setup has telephoto, ultra-wide, and depth sensors, alongside the primary sensor. The phone also has a huge 6.30 inch Full HD+ Super Amoled display with a pixel density of 393ppi. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Soc, Octa Core processor and Adreno 512. The device will be available in 6gb ram and 8gb ram variant both with 128gb of internal storage which can be expandable upto 512gb via microSD card.
The Galaxy A9 is launched under the price category of Rs. 40,000 where there is already the Oneplus 6T which was launched earlier this year. Oneplus 6T is currently ruling the mid-range market with it's premium features like the in-display fingerprint scanner, the water drop notch, Snapdragon 845, Glass back, etc.

The display of both the phones are really amazing. The Galaxy A9 has a 6.30 inch Full HD+ Super Amoled display with an aspect ratio of 18:5:9 whereas the Oneplus 6T has 6.40 inch Full HD+ Optic Amoled display with an aspect ratio of 19:5:9 with a water drop notch.
Performance being an important factor the Samsung Galaxy A9 has a mid-range chipset which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Soc and Adreno 512 stacked with 6gb and 8gb of ram. The Oneplus 6T has a premium chipset which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with Adreno 630 supported with a 6gb and 8gb ram.
In case of the internal storage both the phones has 128gb internal storages except here then Oneplus 6T also has a 256gb internal storage variant.
Let's talk about the software of both devices. The Samsung Galaxy A9 comes with Android Oreo (8.0) with the Samsung's own skin called the Samsung Experience skin which will get an Android Pie update in the future. The Oneplus 6T comes with the latest Android Pie (9.0) covered by the Oneplus' own skin OxygenOS.
One of the biggest highlights of both the phones are the cameras. Here Samsung Galaxy A9 is sure on the lead with that Quad camera setup as compared to the Oneplus 6T's dual camera setup.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 has a Quad camera setup on the back where the first camera is 8MP Ultra Wide camera with a FoV of 120 degrees and f2.4 aperture. The second camera is a 10MP Telephoto camera with f2.4 aperture with 2x optical zoom. The third camera is the main camera which is 24MP with f1.7 aperture for clear and bright pictures in low light. The fourth camera is a 5MP depth camera with f2.2 aperture with live focus. The Galaxy A9 is also capable of recording UHD 4K videos at 30fps. The phone also has a 24MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Oneplus 6T
The Oneplus 6T has a dual rear camera setup where the primary sensor is 16MP and the secondary sensor is 20MP, both with f/1.7 aperture. It has both, optical image stabilisation as well as electronic image stabilisation, portrait mode with studio lighting feature and an improved low light photography experience. The front camera is a 16MP sensor.
The Samsung has huge 3800mAh battery with fast charging and the Oneplus 6T has a 3700mAh battery with 20W Dash charging. The Galaxy A9 has a 3.5mm audio jack which is absent in the Oneplus 6T. Both the phones has all the sensors including 4G Volte and USB Type-C.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 is priced at Rs. 36,990 for the 6gb ram and 39,990 for the 8gb ram both having 128gb of internal storage. Whereas the Oneplus 6T is priced at Rs. 37,999 for 6gb/128gb variant, Rs. 41,999 for 8gb/128gb variant and Rs. 45,999 for 8gb/256gb variant.
Well it seems like both the phones are equally capable although the Galaxy A9 has a mid-range chipset as compared to the Oneplus 6T's premium chipset. This means in case of performance the Oneplus 6T will surpass the Galaxy A9 but when it comes to the camera department it seems like the Galaxy A9 is ahead of alot of other smartphones. For the camera centric people the Samsung Galaxy A9 is a better choice but it seems like the Oneplus 6T is a better phone in general.
