Over the past couple of years Samsung has been working on it's folding phone and has often talked about the concept. The device is one of the most hyped and most awaited devices out there, and now it seems that we will be able to see the device pretty soon. Samsung brought the first concept of the device into the light back in 2013 in an event through a trailer where it shared a few possibilities and ideas for the foldable device.

DJ Koh, Ceo of Samsung Mobile gave us a little insight on how the product will look in an interview with CNET at the Samsung Galaxy A9 launch event in October, 2018. DJ Koh while speaking to CNET told, that the device will be a full size tablet when unfolded, having all the functionalities of a tablet including all the multitasking and a big screen but when needed can be folded to turn it into a phone which can even fit in your pocket. The details are quite similar to the one in the 2013 concept trailer from the company in which a device was shown with a large internal flexible screen combined with a smaller screen on the outside. The display of the phone will be an OLED display as it is the only display which is flexible enough to be folded. Koh said that the device could be unveiled in the Samsung's Developer Conference in November.

In an interview with CNET, Koh said ,"When we deliver a foldable phone, it has to be really meaningful to our customer. If the user experience is not up to my standard, I don’t want to deliver those kind of products." He told that Samsung very much needs to have a folding phone - "I am positive that we do need a folding phone." at the Galaxy A9 event. “Possibly when we start selling the foldable phone, it may be a niche market, but definitely, it will expand.”
Well, Samsung isn't the only one putting efforts to bring a folding phone. Manufacturers like Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi, Motorola, Oppo, LG are getting ready for the race to bring the first foldable phone.
In the Samsung Developer Conference which will be held in November, the company may unveil some prototypes of the phone but the actual phone might get delayed according to the reports. We may be able to see the actual device next year in 2019 at the 10th anniversary of the Samsung Galaxy Smartphones.
