The video game giant Sony Europe got sued by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for violating the Australian Consumer law by denying to refund for the faulty games that had been downloaded by the customers.

The company told the customers that it could not refund unless the game developers confirms that the product is irreparably faulty. But later Sony agreed to refund only with store credits instead of cash, the regulator told.

ACCC Chair Rod Sims told in a statement that Sony Europe has been giving false and misleading information to it's customers regarding the rights in relation to the games sold via Playstation Store.

"Consumer guarantees do not expire after a digital product has been downloaded as we allege Sony Europe told consumers, and refunds must be given in the form of original payment unless a consumer chooses to receive it in store credit.", ACCC Chair Rod Sims said in the statement.
